Demographic Dynamics of the Population of the Don Region in the First Soviet Decades (1920–1941)
The article analyzes the processes of demographic modernization of the population of the Don Region in 1920–1941.
The dynamics of the main indicators of its natural reproduction (fertility rates, mortality, increase/decrease) has been studied. Shifts in the gender and age structure of the regional population, changes in the forms of its settlement, and the growth rate of the urban system are recorded. The correlation of the demographic modernization of the regional society with the comprehensive development program of the country implemented by the Soviet government in the economy, social and cultural spheres has been established.
