Georgian-Russian Relations in the Modern Geopolitical Context

This article analyzes the intricacies of Georgian-Russian relations, which, post-Soviet and within the framework of the nascent global order, have evolved onto a qualitatively distinct plane. As sovereign entities under international law, both nations are actively engaged in societal modernization, market economy development, and integration into the evolving international system.
The analysis acknowledges the inherent complexities and contradictions that characterize the bilateral relationship. Nevertheless, it underscores the compelling nature of this connection, capable of transcending signifi cant political diff erences. The paper further deals with the role of the Georgian diaspora in Russia, tourism, and relocation in stimulating Georgia’s economic growth.
By diversifying their energy and trade-economic strategies, Georgia and Russia have successfully attracted global economic players to participate in regional mega-projects within the Caucasus. In this context, both nations prioritize international initiatives that align with their national interests while respecting the sovereignty of all parties involved.
In conclusion, the pursuit of a multi-vector foreign policy in the Caucasus, coupled with diversifi ed economic strategies for Georgia and Russia, is poised to lay the foundation for political stabilization in bilateral relations, a pressing matter demanding resolution.
