Culture in the Subject Field and Culture of the Subject Field of the Scientifi c Journal (on the 30th Anniversary of the Journal “Scientifi c Thought of the Caucasus”)

The article is an overview of the subject field of publications of the journal “Scientific Thought of the Caucasus” for the period 2020–2024. The author analyzes questions about the ratio of quantitative and qualitative indicators in the assessment of scientifi c journals, about the mission, goals and objectives of publishing in modern Russia, about the state of society and challenges for the scientifi c community, about high standards of scientific activity, about the importance of the impact factor in bibliometrics.
During the review of the subject fi eld, the article reveals the priority role of the concept of “culture” in the publications of the journal for a fi ve-year period. Large number of in-depth articles devoted to the origins of Western, Eastern, Russian culture, as well as articles on the problems of modern cultural development confirm this fact. Another priority is the study of state building, politics, cultural trends, the history of the Caucasus, traditions, customs, the language of the peoples inhabiting it. The interest in culture and the emphasis on Caucasian studies in its various aspects is a two-fold factor that determines the importance of the journal “Scientific
Thought of the Caucasus” at present.
