The Role of the Structural Organization of the Constructions with the Coordinative Verb-Predicates in the Characteristic of the Principal Characters (on the Example of V. Nabokov’s novel “Lolita”)
The current article is dedicated to the role defi nition of the structural organization of the coordinative verbpredicates in characterization of the major characters of bilingual novel of Vladimir Nabokov “Lolita” – Humbert and Lolita. The article also touches upon the problem of transitional developments in modern linguistics, such like monosubject polypredicate and polypredicative constructios, which is still unsolved and considers further research. The main objective of the article, determined by the actuality of the study – the increased interest to the creative life of the writer and general understudy of Nabokov’s individual style in the context of philological analysis of his bilingual novels, – is the identifi cation and specifi cation of the features, characterizing both Humbert and Lolita, refl ected in complication of the examined constructions in two versions of the famous novel – English and Russian correspondingly. Conclusions concerning the role of structural organization and complication of the monosubjest constructions and the expression of this role in forming the principal characters’ personalities are pretty distinctive and promote varied readers’ attitude towards the main characters, which can be partly explained by the fact that the author takes into account the mental and cultural differences between the English and Russian audience.
