The Phenomenon of Non-Verbal Deixis in the Works of L.N. Tolstoy

(Karachay-Cherkess State University named by U.D. Aliyev)

Language realizes the representation of the world, rooted in the forms of life, where the material activity of the subject and the use of language are complementary. Russian writers, finding themselves in the Caucasus and realizing the necessity of its annexation to Russia, tried to study the languages and cultures of the mountain people, while simultaneously propagating the Russian language and culture among the peoples of the Caucasus; began to study everyday life (customs, rites, way of life) of the mountaineers; the more Russian intelligentsia learned about the mountaineers, the more respect and interest was shown to them. The works that were created as a result of this activity have not yet been fully mastered, although the formation of cultural and language contacts in the North Caucasus is currently relevant. Interlingual and intercultural interactions are positive prerequisites for effective communication. The study of the phenomenon of non-verbal deixis plays a huge role in the formation of a system of intercultural
communication and the development of the theory of language and speech discourse. At the communicative level, the elements of non-verbal deixis are manifested as the need for interaction and mutual influence of people. The language of non-verbal communication is a peculiar form of self-expression. It follows from the foregoing that peacekeeping in the polylingual, multicultural,
polyethnic region is possible only if the main imperative of speech interaction is observed - mutual understanding, mutual respect, mutual tolerance.
