Phenomenon of Dominance and Situation as External Component of Speech Act

Purpose: The relevance of the problem lies in the fact that topics related to the anthropocentric approach are of great importance nowadays. The purpose of this article is connected with such an approach, so, the aim of the study is to analyze the idea ‘situation’ as an external component of a speech act and to trace the actualization of the phenomenon ‘dominance’ in the speech behavior of an individual.
Discussion: The concept of a situation arose to designate a complex denotation conveyed in an utterance. The number of components of a situation can fluctuate due to the disclosure of the elements of a situation. The structural organization of an utterance reflects the language and intellectual skills of an author. Consequently, speech structures carry information about the corresponding skills of social interaction and personality traits, and situational factors of communication and activity limit the organization of these structures. For example, the choice of a variant of speech units in the situation of generating dominant speech behavior is carried out by a sender him/herself in accordance with his/her assessment of the communication situation and, above all, with the assessment of the intended recipient. Moreover, for the sender's actualization of his/her intentional tasks when generating an utterance, the influence that is unconscious and exerted on him/her by the recipient is of great importance.
Results: If such unconscious influence leads to the expression of dominance, then in a situation of a hostility attitude, as a result the sender actualizes confrontational strategies of influence. Dominance in a situation associated with the manifestation of friendliness entails cooperative forms of strategies.
