Russian Language Proficiency Аssessment in the Academic Adaptation Framework of Foreign Students from Neighboring Countries in the Southern Federal University
The performance results of foreign students from the CIS countries indicate their insufficient level of Russian language proficiency, which hinders their successful academic adaptation. The article describes a study conducted at the Southern Federal
University to determine and assess the level of language training of foreign students from neighboring countries in order to make decisions based on the diagnostic results necessary to improve the educational process. The first part of the article describes
the B1+ level diagnostic test, features of the subtests “Vocabulary. Grammar, Reading, Writing”. Next, the results of diagnostic testing are analyzed. The second part of the article is a description of a survey aimed at identifying the conditions for teaching the
Russian language in the homeland and the reasons for the existing gaps. The article proposes a model for eliminating gaps and improving the educational process.
